$Id: abilities.txt 841 2009-05-18 16:33:35Z Steve $ Basic abilities of Celestials, Saints, Undead, Soldiers and Mortals. Essence Generation: Unless Celestial discord intervenes, essence is generated naturally as follows: Angelic celestial beings, including Saints, generate 1 point at sunrise. Demonic celestial beings, including Undead, generate 1 point at sunset. Etherial beings generate 1 point at midnight. Corporeal beings generate 1 point at midday. Rites can be used at most once each per day. All humans have the special rite 'Succeed a roll on a skill known at rating 6'. Has a Heart: Can ascend to Celestial plane, arriving at location of Heart. Can be located by any Symphony-perceiver in contact with the Heart. If killed, return to Heart, in trauma. Can Perceive the Symphony: Can detect disturbances in the Symphony. Can observe Celestial forms automatically. Can direct essence use (i.e. spend less than all essence, and can spend essence at will). Can use songs and attunements normally. Cannot Perceive the Symphony: Cannot detect disturbances in the Symphony, no matter how powerful. Must make Per. roll to observe a Celestial form. Cannot make directed use of essence: When boosting rolls, all essence is spent at once. When using songs, as much essence is used as is required. Cannot usually learn ordinary songs and attunments, but can normally learn equivalent mortal magic. Having a Superior: If Celestial being, have a Heart. Can invoke Superior. Superior normally grants one attunement, plus rites. Subject to superior dissonance, Celestial beings: Have a Celestial form, so can ascend to Celestial plane via a Tether or Heart, or by following another Celestial. Can walk the Marches (leave their dreamscape at will). Can utilise vessels on the Corporeal plane. If vessel killed, return to Heart (Limbo if no Heart), in trauma. Angels and Demons: Celestial being. Have resonance, and corresponding dissonance. Can perceive the Symphony. Disturb the Symphony by spending essence, arriving, taking Celestial Form, destruction. Have a Superior, unless Outcast or Renegade. Remnant Angels and Demons: Celestial being. No resonance or dissonance. Cannot perceive the Symphony. Disturb the Symphony by spending essence, arriving, taking Celestial Form, destruction. Cannot consciously use rites or attunements, and celestial perception abilities do not work on the remnant. Saints: Celestial being. No resonance or dissonance. Can perceive the Symphony. Disturb the Symphony only by taking Celestial form. Have a Superior, but not subject to superior dissonance, no heart, but return to Heaven when killed. Corporeal beings: Have no Celestial form. Have no natural ability to leave their dreamscape. Have a body rather than a vessel. If killed, die. Mundanes: Corporeal being. Cannot perceive the Symphony. Do not disturb the Symphony. Can have a Superior. Soldiers: Corporeal being. Can perceive the Symphony. Do not disturb the Symphony. Can have a Superior. Undead: Celestial/Corporeal being: Have a Celestial form, but are bound to their vessel, so cannot take Celestial form. Can leave dreamscape at will. Body becomes a vessel. If killed, forces are dispersed into the Symphony. Can perceive the Symphony. Do not disturb the Symphony, except by taking Celestial form. Can have a Superior.
